The Student Enquiry Centre is a focused hub for student enquiries and is the front-of-house service for the Academic Registry and Mile End Admissions teams. We handle queries from current undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, who can ask a query face to face at our counter, by telephone or email. We also handle face to face queries from graduates for duplicate degree award letters and transcripts, and from prospective students for prospectuses and general course enquiries.
The Student Enquiry Centre seeks to recruit 3 x QMUL graduates as full time Student Enquiry Assistants for the following periods:
One Assistant: 17 August until 16 November 2015
Two Assistants: 1 September until 30 November 2015
The posts will support the Student Enquiry Centre team during its busiest period which, along with general queries, will handle queries relating to enrolment, Welcome Week and postgraduate taught results and awards.
The main duties of the posts are:
- To provide a welcoming environment for prospective, current and previous students
- Help manage day-to-day enquires face to face, by telephone and email, making sure they are dealt with as efficiently, effectively and accurately as possible and ensuring outcomes are communicated to the enquirer
- Respond to a variety of requests for information, documentation and support
- Produce computerised documents such as transcripts, certificates of attendance and confirmation of degree documentation.
The candidate should be a QMUL graduate, have good IT skills, be customer focused with recent experience of working in a busy customer orientated environment, have an enthusiastic and pleasant manner combined with an ability to cope under pressure, and a willingness to work additional/unsociable hours at busy times. Full training will be provided.
The position is a fixed term contract. The salary will be £25,727 pro rata inclusive of London Allowance.
Candidates must have completed their programme of study and be officially awarded before commencing this role (student record must be closed). Candidate must also be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
